Composer of classical, film, theater and radio music, conductor. Winner of over twenty awards at international and national composition competitions. His compositions have been recorded on 19 CDs and are performed in the most important Polish concert halls and in most European countries, as well as in the USA, China, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam.

In the years 2009-2014 he studied composition under the supervision of prof. Marcin Błażewicz at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, receiving a diploma with an excellent result. In 2014-2015 he was a student of Professor Krzysztof Penderecki. In addition, during his studies, he participated in numerous courses and workshops conducted by Wolfgang Rihm (Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe), Lowell Liebermann (Mannes College The New School for Music, New York) and Vladimir Scolnic (Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance).

Author of music for dozens of productions: theatre, film, television and radio. In the field of film and television, he has collaborated with WFDiF, Netflix, Bagatela Studio, TVP Television Theatre, TVP Kultura, Granator Studio. Theatre plays with Ignacy's music are staged on the in the most important Polish theaters, including J. Slowacki Theatre in Krakow,  Dramatic Theater in Warsaw, Jewish Theater in Warsaw, Silesian Theater in Katowice, L. Solski Theatre in Tarnów. The composer constantly collaborates with the Polish Radio Theatre.

Ignacy Zalewski obtained his PhD in 2015 and DSc in 2020. He works as a professor at the Chopin University of Music. Since 2014, he has been a lecturer at his alma mater, and since 2020 he has been teaching a composition class. In the 2020-2024 term, he is the dean of the Faculty of Composition and Music Theory of the FCUM.
